Taileah J. Hunter, P.E., is the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of TJ Hunter Engineering, Inc., a Dallas-based civil and transportation engineering firm she established in 2020. A licensed Professional Engineer with more than 15 years of industry experience. Her expertise spans highway design, drainage, rail and transit, traffic engineering, utilities, and civil site development — disciplines that define TJHE's core service offerings and are backed by a team with more than 20 years of collective TxDOT experience. Under her leadership, the firm has grown into a multi-state practice with offices in Dallas, Oregon, and Washington.

Since our founding in 2020, TJ Hunter Engineering has built a proven track record of delivering technically rigorous civil engineering solutions for public agencies, prime contractors, and private clients. Our work spans highway design, rail and transit, utility engineering, and civil site development — and our team brings more than 20 years of collective TxDOT experience to every engagement.

Our team brings deep expertise across seven core disciplines, with experience on projects ranging from local roadway improvements to complex, multi-agency transportation corridors.
Our engineers are experienced in working within constrained right-of-way environments where high traffic volumes, dense utilities, and multimodal infrastructure requirements must be balanced simultaneously. We develop phased construction strategies that keep communities moving, maintain access for emergency services and adjacent businesses, and protect pedestrian and bicycle users throughout the construction process. When design conditions change mid-project — and they often do — our team has the depth and agility to develop innovative solutions without losing momentum.
Our Work in Practice
We design to the standards of the agencies we serve, and we bring that institutional fluency to every project, whether we are serving as a prime or a subconsultant. Our project portfolio includes full roadway reconstruction on high-volume state highway corridors, widening and safety improvements on municipal arterials, and multimodal infrastructure enhancements that serve both vehicular and non-motorized users.
Across these engagements, we have demonstrated the ability to manage complex phasing, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, resolve design conflicts in real time, and deliver PS&E packages on schedule.
